  • Boiling water

  • Long-handled spoon

For Cowboy Coffee:

  • 4 cups cold water (adjust to preference or volume making)

  • 8 tbsp coarsely ground coffee (2 tbsp per cup or 1/4 to 1 qt of water)

  • (Optional) Pinch of salt – reduces bitterness

INSTRUCTIONS

French Press Brewing:

  1. Bring water to a full boil, then let sit 30 seconds (~200°F).

  2. Add 6–8 tbsp coffee to the French press.

  3. Pour hot water to just below the top.

  4. Stir gently with a long-handled spoon.

  5. Place lid on and steep for 3-4 minutes.

  6. Press the plunger down slowly.

  7. Pour and enjoy immediately.

Cowboy Coffee Brewing:

  1. In a kettle or pot, bring water to a rolling boil.

  2. Add coffee. Stir briefly.

  3. Keep on low heat for 4 minutes to steep (do not boil).

  4. Remove from heat and let sit for several minutes to allow grounds to settle.

  5. Pour 1 cup cold water on top and through spot to help grounds sink.

  6. Pour slowly to avoid stirring up grounds.

Brewing Notes & Tips:

  • Use coarse-ground coffee for best results.

  • 1 oz coffee ≈ 2 tbsp (may vary by roast/grind).

  • Adjust to taste—start with a 1:15 ratio.

  • Use filtered water for best flavor.

  • If too strong, dilute with a bit of hot water when serving.

Cleaning Instructions:

  • Discard used grounds (compost if possible).

  • Rinse press or kettle with warm water.

  • Wash with mild soap.

  • Pat dry or air dry completely before storing.
